UPDATE: I've closed the test and have decided to limit it to the current set of participants. We're beginning to see some scaling issues when too many folks are trying to edit the document simulatneously. This has been reported to the developers.
So the team at Download Squad just posted a snippet abut Writely, a web-based word processor with collaborative features. I just got into the private beta and thought it would be an interesting experiment to invite those of you interested in collaborating on a review to give it a try and see what you think. Here's how it will work:
-
Send me an e-mail requesting an invitation (mochant [at] gmail [dot] com)
-
I'll send you an invitation to access my Writely review page
-
Visit the site and add your thoughts
-
I'll update this post with your comments as you add them to the Writely page
Real-time editing is possible even with multiple participants. Hopefully this will scale OK and we won't end up
stepping on each other's toes.
The only rules are the same ones that apply for comments on this site:
"Please keep your comments relevant to this blog entry: inappropriate or purely promotional comments may be removed.
Email addresses are required to confirm your comments. To create a live link, simply type the URL (including http://)
or email address and we will make it a live link for you. You can put up to 3 URLs in your comments."
