Engadget has the details and a ton pictures of the new Treo 700w. Despite my previous experiences with Windows CE and Pocket PC devices, I'm excited to check this out for three immediate reasons:
-
EV-DO built-in (even though Sprint hasn't announced its availability here yet)
-
Wi-Fi - yes fans you heard correctly - WiFi on a Treo!
-
Higher-res camera - I used to think camera phones were a frill but I have genuinely found it useful and fun to have one
There's one detail that sounds troubling. If the screen is actually lower res than my current Treo 650 that would be
disappointing.
Now that the Treo has been decoupled from its symbiosis with the Palm OS, it will be interesting to see what other
platforms the hardware can embrace. Linux has been rumored for some time. Symbian would be another interesting choice.
The great thing is… I'm in no way unhappy with my current Treo so I have the luxury of taking my time to see how things
shake out.
