Gates, Ozzie scheduled to reveal Microsoft online services tomorrow

According to a report today at seattlepi.com, Bill Gates and Ray Ozzie will reveal the next online offerings from Microsoft in an announcement scheduled for tomorrow in San Francisco. According to an analyst quoted in the article, Microsoft has the time and money to keep trying different ideas due to their unique position in the market.

"While other companies may have found successful strategies faster, (Directions on Microsoft's Rob) Helm said Microsoft, with around $40 billion in cash, has a potential advantage in that it doesn't necessarily need to make money from its online offerings. Instead, he said, the company only needs to create products that will make people continue to want to buy Office and Windows.

UPDATE: ZDNet has a comprehensive preview of what's expected in the announcement later today.
