Vista’s restart manager will cut down
on the need to restart your system considerably. The restart manager is an application that will figure out what
part of a program or service will need to be turned off to install updates and restart that program or service as soon
as the update is complete virtually eliminating the need for rebooting your machine after every update and security
fix.
Coupled with Vista’s sleep function, Restart Manager will allow your PC to
be safely left on for a long time without shutting it down. I find this incredibly useful. If I don’t
need to restart my PC all the time, I don’t have to wait. I reboot it now as often as I do to make sure it is
more stable and reliable.
I hope to not have to reboot it as much with Vista because it just takes way
too long. What if I had to always keep rebooting my refrigerator, or my lamp? I hope my computer will indeed become
just another appliance someday. I don’t need a misbehaving computer. That’s why I have kids.
