Microsoft will not only offer HD video on the new
Vista Media Center operating system, but native digital cable reception, and managed copies. Managed copies
mean Vista will allow you to copy a DVD to an image file for storage on your hard drive. Today's massive hard
drives, coupled with Vista will eliminate the need for you to cart around and keep track of your DVDs.
One thing
I find interesting about the managed copy idea is that Microsoft has found a way to keep DVD sales going, to keep the
studios and media producers happy, but also give the user the ability to take all the media with them legally and
safely. Whether it is on a portable device or on your desktop, being able to legally rip copies of your movies is
awesome.
