New York Times redesigned, using Microsoft font

The New York Times has had a redesign, and it's looking very spiffy. Why is this relevant to a weblog that covers Microsoft? Well, as Robert Scoble reports the new design is sporting the Georgia font, which is a san-serif font that was developed by Microsoft for strong readability characteristics.

Interestingly, according to an informal study done over at FadTastic, academic papers that are done using Georgia score better than those done using Times New Roman.

Anil Dash has a great breakdown analysing the redesign.

[Note: Updated to correctly identify Georgia as a serif font, as per Bill's comment below]
