Don't let the door hit you in the... Finally (dramatic pause, then drum-roll here) the "successor" to FrontPage is here! Ta-da! Microsoft's new Expression Web Designer looks promising. Well, let's face it, anything looks promising compared to FrontPage. Despite FrontPage's many shortcomings, I can't knock it too much, it was one of the very first web dev tools I used, and sorta cut my teeth on it. It was a half-decent tool for learning what not to do, and how not to write HTML code, which is worth something. Hey, you have to start somewhere right? The new Expressions Web Designer will use ASP.NET underpinnings, which is a good thing, since Microsoft has a stable, viable tool and framework in ASP.NET. Expressions is supposed to conform very well to web standards. I hope that means native HTML / XHTML / CSS compliance, anything that can help validation become easier is worth my time . So go digg a hole in your backyard, next to Bubba, your dearly departed hamster, and bury that old crusty FrontPage box and let Expression run the hamster wheel a while. I think you will like it, and even if not, it is better than FrontPage.[Via InternetNews.com]
